Development of ArgTag for Scalable Solid-Phase Synthesis of Aggregating Peptides

The "ArgTag" method uses a simplified six-arginine tag to prevent difficult peptide chains from clumping together during solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS).
Developed by researchers at the University of Zurich utilizing the PeptiPilot and published in ACS Chemical Biology, this technique helps chemists make challenging, aggregation-prone peptide sequences with much higher purity and yield.

Corden Pharma used the PeptiPilot to synthesize a 39 amino acid linear peptide - GLP-1 agonist Exenatide. Total solvent use compared to conventional batch SPPS methods was reduced 35 - 61% while piperidine utilization in deprotection was reduced ~50%.
